Eligibility

Who Can Apply

  • Students who have passed Class 8 from a government or government-aided school
  • Family income below ₹1.5 lakh per annum
  • Students with at least 55% marks in Class 7 (50% for SC/ST students)
  • Students currently enrolled in Class 9 at a government or government-aided school
  • Must qualify the State-level NMMS examination conducted by SCERT

Who Cannot Apply

  • Students studying in private unaided schools
  • Students in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, or Sainik Schools
  • Students whose family income exceeds ₹1.5 lakh per annum
  • Students who do not clear the state NMMS selection examination
  • Students enrolled in residential government schools where boarding and lodging are borne by the state

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Bank passbook in student's name (Aadhaar-linked)

How to Apply

Online

  1. Visit scholarships.gov.in (National Scholarship Portal)
  2. Register as a fresh applicant
  3. Select 'National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship'
  4. Enter NMMS examination roll number and merit details
  5. Fill academic and income details and upload documents
  6. Submit before the deadline. Renewal required every year

Offline / CSC

  1. Contact your State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for NMMS examination schedule
  2. Appear in the state-level NMMS examination held every year (usually November)
  3. On selection, apply through your school to the district education officer
  4. Submit income and academic documents as required
