Who Can Apply
- Girls aged 13–18 enrolled in Class 8–12 or equivalent vocational course (K1)
- Girls turning 18 who are unmarried and enrolled in education or vocational training (K2)
- West Bengal domicile girls
- Family annual income below ₹1.2 lakh (for K1 and K2)
- Girls with disability are eligible regardless of income limit
Who Cannot Apply
- Girls who are married before age 18
- Girls not enrolled in a recognised school or vocational institution
- Girls whose family income exceeds ₹1.2 lakh per annum (except disabled)
- Non-WB domicile applicants
Benefits
- K1 (Annual): ₹1,000/year for girls aged 13–18 enrolled in school
- K2 (One-time): ₹25,000 at age 18 on remaining unmarried and continuing education or vocational training
- K3: Scholarship support for higher education (select categories)
- Direct bank transfer to girl's own account
Documents Required
- Aadhaar Card
- School enrollment certificate / bonafide certificate
- Age proof (birth certificate or school certificate)
- Income certificate (below ₹1.2 lakh per annum)
- Bank passbook in girl's own name (Aadhaar-linked)
- Self-declaration of unmarried status (for K2)
- Passport size photograph
- Disability certificate (if applicable, for income waiver)
How to Apply
Online
- Visit wbkanyashree.gov.in
- Register using the girl's Aadhaar and school details
- Fill K1 or K2 application form with income and enrollment details
- Upload required documents and submit
- Track application status on the portal
Offline / CSC
- Collect application form from your school (the school is the primary nodal point)
- Fill the form with required documents and submit to the school teacher-in-charge
- School submits the consolidated list to the Block or District office
- Funds are directly credited to the girl's bank account after verification
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. K1 is the annual grant received every year from age 13–18. K2 is a separate one-time grant claimed at age 18, provided she is unmarried and still in education.
She becomes ineligible for K2. K1 payments already received are not recovered, but further instalments stop.
Yes. The bank account must be in the girl's own name. A joint account with a parent is not accepted for K2.
No. Girls with disabilities are exempt from the income criterion and can apply regardless of family income.
K3 is an extended support component for Kanyashree beneficiaries who pursue higher education. Eligibility and amounts vary; check wbkanyashree.gov.in for current details.
