Who Can Apply
- Urban households in West Bengal residing in kutcha or dilapidated houses
- Households with annual income below ₹3 lakh
- BPL families not already covered under PMAY-Urban
- SC/ST and EWS households in urban areas
- Households with valid urban local body (ULB) residency
Who Cannot Apply
- Households already owning a pucca house
- Rural households (see PMAY-Gramin or Banglar Awas Yojana)
- Government employees
- Households already receiving housing benefit under PMAY-Urban
- Income tax payers
Benefits
- Financial assistance up to ₹1.20 lakh for construction of pucca house
- Assistance disbursed in installments linked to construction progress
- Covers urban poor not covered under PMAY-Urban
- Convergence with basic civic amenities (water, sanitation)
Documents Required
- Aadhaar Card (all adult members)
- West Bengal voter ID or domicile certificate
- BPL certificate or income certificate (below ₹3 lakh)
- Proof of residence in urban area (ULB certificate / utility bill)
- Land or plot ownership document or allotment letter
- Bank passbook (Aadhaar-linked)
- Caste certificate (SC/ST if applicable)
- Photograph of existing dwelling
How to Apply
Online
- Visit housing.wb.gov.in for scheme details and application guidelines
- Some ULBs accept online applications through their respective portals
- Contact your local ULB to confirm the current application mode in your area
Offline / CSC
- Visit your Urban Local Body (Municipality or Municipal Corporation) office
- Collect and fill the Banglar Bari application form
- Attach all required documents and submit at the ULB office
- ULB will conduct field verification of the existing house
- On approval, funds are released in installments verified by geo-tagged photographs
